My flying safari to Masai Mara a few days ago was such a wonderful experience. While flying, along the way, we had a beautiful view of Mt.Kilimanjaro and the Great Rift Valley. My land is Kenya…… and what beauty it holds. Only when you fly to Masai Mara from Mombasa or fly to Masai Mara from Nairobi, you can be able to see and tell. It took us 2 exciting hours from Mombasa to Masai Mara… and ooh my…couldn’t wait to go and see the lions, elephants, zebra, giraffes, hippos in their natural habitat.
Finally, we arrived and we were welcomed by our host Basecamp Explorer who owns and run 3 eco-friendly camps. Base Camp Masai Mara, Eagle View Camp & Wilderness Camp. Eagle View Camp and Wilderness camp are in Naibosho Conservancy which was nominated as the winner of the best community conservancy in 2016 in Masai Mara.
President Obama’s Visit To Kenya As A Senator.
In 2006 President Obama and his family visited Kenya Masai Mara and stayed at Base Camp Masai Mara, and I spent the night in the same tent, which was named in his honour as “Obama Tent”.The camp is well located just next to Talek River which is a big plus, as there are so many wildlife animals just next to the camp which come to take water. I sat by the tent and enjoyed watching giraffes feeding, crocodiles enjoying a swim. There is lots of birdlife, this camp is the ideal place to stay for a Kenya bird watching tour. There are 270 species of birds around Base Camp Masai Mara. As I was sitting outside my tent in the morning, I could enjoy listening to a woodpecker pecking on an Acacia tree which really brought that African feeling and felt so much next to nature.
Kenya Masai Mara Migration
The migration of the wildebeest starts from July to October. To my shock, which I really don’t
understand, the wildebeest send some representatives who go to spy on the areas if the grass is long enough for the other wildebeest to start the migrating from Tanzania’s Serengeti to Kenya Masai Mara. We met with a group which had come on the mission of spying. I wonder if they ever go back to deliver the message. They never go back as the dangers they encounter on their trip to Masai Mara is very dangerous and risky. They risk the attacks of crocodiles as they are crossing River Mara. Most of the drama happens when they are crossing. After wildebeest cross, they risk the attacks of lions, leopards, cheetah which are normally waiting strategically knowing their food is plenty.
