Nairobi proudly known as the city ‘under the sun’ happens to be one of the most famous destinations around the world. It also happens to be the only city in the world with a national park in its outskirts. If you are looking forward for Kenya Nairobi Safaris most probably the best place to start is visiting the Nairobi national park before going for other tour destinations from Nariobi.

Lake Naivasha

Lake Naivasha is the next small town after Nairobi on your way to the Rift valley. It is a famous destination where visitors can take a quick safari from Nairobi for a relaxation. It is famous for local visitors too who prefer to go for a weekend there after a busy week. The attractions found here include the lake where visitors can take boat rides. The animals include the hippos, errands, giraffe, impalas, few wildebeests, waterbucks, zebras and birds include kingfisher and fishing eagles. Enjoy a walk around the Elsamere camp the home of famous Elsa the young lion who was brought up by Joy Adamson who wrote the book and movie born free.  In the outskirts of Lake Naivasha a visitor can take a tour to Hell’s gate, take a hike at the Ol-Njorowa gorge as long as the weather allows and Mt. Longonot National Park. This all depends on the visitor’s plans and budget.

Lake Nakuru

A further drive from Lake Naivasha brings you to Nakuru town where one can take a stop to Lake Nakuru National Park. The lake has a famous name “pink lake” which is adapted from the many flamingoes that colour the shores. It is an attraction you will not want to miss. Go and take spectacular photos and videos to share with your family, friends and the world. As you drive to the lake you will meet so many animals including the baboons, monkeys, giraffes, zebras, gazelles, buffaloes, lions among others. There are other birds like the marabou, saddle bill stork, pelicans and plenty of other small birds like the superb starling. The hippos are always found near or under the water. The white and black rhino are another superb attraction you cannot afford to miss. Do not leave the lake without visiting the baboon cliff point where you can see the lake in a wide and very clear view.

The Aberdares National Park

The Aberdares is one of the attractions that central Kenya prides in with the nearest town being Nyeri. The most famous attraction is the Tree top where visitors get a glimpse of spectacular sceneries and animals. You will not especially miss out to see a large herd of elephants grazing nearby. You can also visit the kikuyu village for a cultural experience that is found within the Outspan hotel. Enjoy some entertainment from the cultural dancers wearing traditional outfits and the bobombo drums making the cultural sound you will not want to miss out on. On the cultural bit, visit the fortune teller if you have the guts, you may want to have a translator as the guy does not speak English. The famous Robert Baden Powell, the founder of the Scout Movement who died in Nyeri in 1941 was buried just near Outspan hotel, you can take a quick visit to see his grave as it has become one of the major attractions.

Sweet waters at Ol-Pejeta Conservancy

From Nyeri head to Nanyuki and to the Private Ol-Pejeta Conservancy just at the roots of Mt. Kenya. It is a home to quite a number of animals including all the Big Five. The conservancy is known for its Rhino conservation program. You can stay at the Sweetwaters tented camp that is located in-front of a waterhole which attracts quite a number of animals. It is an exciting experience especially the natural views of Mt. Kenya and the surrounding as well as the animals coming to take water at the waterhole.

Masai Mara Game Reserve

A Kenya Safari is never complete without visiting the Masai Mara. It is usually a trip organized either to travel by road where the visitor gets the opportunity to visit other destinations or by Flight directly to Masai Mara at the Wilson Airport. You can visit the mara while timing the great wildebeest migration or you can just have a safari to see wildlife. Either way, you will have the best experience ever. The Mara houses quite a number of animals and you will not miss out your chance especially to see the big five. For a more exciting adventure take a balloon safari early in the morning for a bird view of the animals.
